About Ferg

Educator. Coach. Climber.

I’ve always been passionate about helping people learn, grow, and discover what they’re capable of.

For more than ten years, I’ve worked across education, youth development, leadership, and coaching, supporting people of all ages to build confidence, develop new skills, and achieve goals they once thought were out of reach.

Climbing has become one of the most rewarding ways I’ve found to do exactly that.

As a qualified climbing coach and climbing wall instructor through the Mountain Training pathway, I work with climbers of all backgrounds and experience levels, from complete beginners taking their first steps on the wall to young people, families, and climbers looking to progress their movement and confidence.

What I enjoy most about coaching isn’t just helping someone climb a harder route. It’s seeing the moment when a person realises they can do something they previously believed was beyond them.

My Approach

My background as a teacher has shaped the way I coach.

Every climber learns differently, so I focus on creating sessions that are supportive, engaging, and tailored to the individual. Whether we’re working on movement skills, confidence, technique, or simply having a go at something new, my aim is to create an environment where people feel comfortable being challenged and supported at the same time.

I believe great coaching is about more than performance. It’s about building confidence, resilience, problem-solving skills, and a genuine enjoyment of climbing that lasts long after the session ends.

Safety and inclusion sit at the heart of everything I do. I hold safeguarding qualifications from both the UK and Victoria, including specialist training in safeguarding children in sport, and I’m committed to creating welcoming spaces where everyone feels respected, supported, and able to participate.

Beyond the Gym

When I’m not coaching, you’ll usually find me climbing outdoors.

I’ve had the opportunity to climb throughout Europe and have developed a deep appreciation for the variety, challenge, and community that climbing offers. Those experiences continue to shape my coaching, helping me bring practical knowledge, perspective, and enthusiasm into every session.

Why Climb With ME?

Because learning to climb should feel supportive, progress should feel achievable, and climbing should be fun.

Whether you’re looking to build confidence, improve your movement, support your child’s development, or simply enjoy climbing more, I’d love to help you on that journey.

Let’s get climbing.
